An A-Z Album

I quite like A-Z scrapbooks and have a few different ones on the shelf.  Here are some pages for one that I am currently finishing off.  It is a bit of a snapshot of our family in 2007 and has little snippets of info about our daily lives.  I thought it might be interesting to look back on down the track.

The album is an 8″ x 8″ size.   I think that is one of my favourite sizes to work with as there is room to fit photo, journalling and a little embellishment, but it is still quite quick to complete.  For this album I started with a pack of alphabet stickers then added the stamped lettering for the rest of the heading, the photo with some simple background colour and one embellishment – a sticker or something similar, varies from page to page.  Handwritten journalling in my rough and ready handwriting keeps it simple to put together.  Very quick to complete and not my most inspired design I know – but hey, if I didn’t do simple layouts I’d never get ANYTHING finished!   The 2 different page layouts, alphabet heading and stamping tie the album together for a bit of a coordinated look.  Mostly though I enjoy reading the journalling, with little bits and pieces about us last year that would otherwise be forgotten I’m sure in years to come.  Nothing earth shatteringly important in there really, but I think it will be fun to read back on just the same.

I’ve got a few letters still to complete, but I’ve done all the journalling in my ‘Scrapbook Planning’ folder.  This is a little A5 folder I keep on my shelf with page plans, rough sketches and other bits and pieces.  Mostly it has journalling for albums I am working on.  (I don’t like to stick on the one project you might have noticed!  So there are always a bunch on the go in various stages of completion.)  I like to scribble out my journalling ideas then tweak them a bit.  For an album like this one it seemed easiest to get all the journalling jotted down last year (before I forgot what we were up to in 2007!) 

Anyway – better get back to it before the little guy wakes up from his nap!  Want to know a secret! I’m actually writing this a few days ago but due to the wonders of Typepad and computer boffins somewhere out there, I can set this blog entry to be posted in a few days.  That way I can do a bunch of posts in one sitting, and do other stuff on the other days.  Now isn’t that clever?!   Wish I could do the same with housework!  Store some up to magically appear a few days later while I sit and read a book.   Aaaahhh well.
