Fires
How are you going? I can’t take my eyes away from the screens at the moment – feels like so much of our country is on fire – native animals and bushland and rural towns under threat. Smoky skies widespread.
Haven’t known a summer before where so many people I know are impacted directly or indirectly. Just sending out heartfelt best wishes to anyone affected by the fires or smoky skies or worry for friends and family, and also to all those firefighters/emergency service crews and families who must be so so tired. xx
We all feel helpless. Here are some ways to help ……
Donations pages for some of our fire services
NSW Fire Service donations link
For organisations helping our poor animals
NSW WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Information Services)
Port Macquarie Koala Hospital (sharing funds with other organisations)
Charitable and support organisations
Salvos (or donate at Woolies checkouts)
Givit (matches specific needs to help avoid unwanted donations of goods that can be hard to manage)
Foodbank (delivering emergency relief and water to East Gippsland)
For those crafters amongst us with knitting/sewing skills
Making pouches for orphaned joeys and other native animals
Rescue Craft Co – their page has details of things needed
Let’s hope for some kinder weather or rains to help in the effort to contain these fires.
Take care, Sue
