Scrapbooking Boys Layout

Back again!  I couldn’t wait to scrapbook that photo I had a play with yesterday and a conversation I jotted between Jack and myself this morning while he was getting dressed was the perfect story to go with the pic.

I’ve used one of the grey patterned papers from the Urban Oasis pack.  (I use that pack a lot for masculine cards and layouts.)  Plus the stripy Basic Gray one from the Hostess Patterns Pack (pg 18.) 

I stamped my title block with Short Order Aphabet using Staz On ink.  And my StampAMaJig – comes in VERY handy for use with alphabets to get them all lined up nicely.  I like this alphabet as it is small enough for longer length titles, and includes the upper case and lower case letters.   The chipboard letters are from On Board Loads Of Letters.  I’ve coloured them with my Going Grey marker then coated them with Crystal Effects and stuck them on with Glue Dots.  Now I should say I left them overnight to dry thoroughly THEN stuck them on but as always I was a bit impatient!  Might be a nice record of a fingerprint or two if you look closely.  🙂

I did my journaling in Photoshop Elements.  I used the photo and fluffed about experimenting with adjustment layers until I’d made it faint then popped a text box over the top.  I’d explain in more detail but I’m not actually sure of how I did any of it!  Just kept experimenting, clicking things and making VERY good use of that handy ‘Undo’ button!   The font is Papyrus.  Printed it on photo paper with my printer.

(Oops just realised I wrote 2009 so will have to fix that and do a reprint!  My brain hasn’t caught up with the new year yet!)

The journaling reads:

Discussion while getting dressed.  January 2009.   

Jack: My jocks are small.  Daddy’s jocks are THIS metres big.

Mum: Do you think you’ll have jocks that big one day.

Jack:  Yes when I’m a man.

Mum: When will you be a man?

Jack: When I’m not a boy then I will be a man.  After I am 14 and I will be 15 and I will be a man.

Mum: What will you do when you are a man?

Jack: When I am a man I will even learn to drive a car.  If I am a man I can’t sleep in my bedroom anymore.  I can sleep in your bedroom.  And I could sleep with my jocks on.

Mum: What will you do for a job?

Jack: Vacuum.  If this house if messy, when I am a man I could vacuum.  Lots of things to do when I’m a man.  Not read baby books anymore.  Make a bed.  Sit on a chair and read a book.  And wear sunglasses.  Get my clothes on all by myself.  Not go to time out when I’m a man.  Go in a car and you and daddy and Hannah will miss me.  And have a shower.  Play the Wii all by myself.  And that’s all I did when I’m a man.

Now that must be a record for me!  Usually my scribbled conversations float around on post it notes on my desk for ages before making it onto a layout! 

If you have little people in your life, grab a pen out and jot down those funny conversations or sayings and keep them. Scrapbook them or just keep them in a notebook. They are so lovely to read back on even a few months down the track, and I just know I’ll love reading them in years to come when my littlies are all grown up.
