Step By Step Birthday Card
Hello and I hope you are having a great week!
Here is a birthday card I made last month for a party Hannah went to. (Happy birthday again to Charmaine!)
Now I think I was in a photographing phase the day I made it because I took step by step photos along the way. And I mean LOTS! So if you like the whole step by step thing then grab a cuppa and read on!

First I grabbed a stack of patterned paper. I stamped a letter or two on each using Best Friends Alphabet and black Stazon.
Next I punched the letters using my square punch. Flip it over to see what you are doing.
I actually wanted rectangles so I trimmed off one edge! Don’t worry – the trimmed off bits make a return soon!
I was having a bit of a doodling phase too so I got out my black marker and doodled a line around the border of each letter block.
I know – this is not exactly very ambitious doodling but you gotta start somewhere! It just doesn’t come naturally – I think I am more of a ruler and marker, straight lines sort of girl but I am enjoying trying something different. I know there are some doodled flowers and squiggles inside somewhere just busting to break out one of these days! But lines for now …
And here are those trimmed off parts. Yes I’m sure I got my Thrift badge when I was a Brownie many moons ago! I used the slot punch to make a hole to thread my ribbon through (a slit at the other end as my slot punch wouldn’t reach quite that far!)
Now for the inside of the card. Still with me here?! Need a biscuit to get to the end? (Or is that just me!) I doodled a rough rectangularish shape to pop inside the card.
Finished. No not quite! The only problem with making irregular sized cards is that there aren’t envelopes to go with them. Hmmm.
Solution! I used a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and folded the top and bottom over to make a card holder. Stamped the birthday girl’s name and popped a sleeve on to hold it all together. Voila – problem solved.
